Creating Production Stock Items

About Production Stock Items
A Production Stock Item is a Stock Item that is linked to a recipe within your system.
Unlike a regular Stock Item, a Production Stock Item represents something that you produce in-house to use within the system as if it were stock, such as in other recipes, transfers and stocktakes.
Production Stock Items will have their calculated stock on hand value increased from a Production Record.
Production Stock Items and Production Records combined provide a great tool for you to manage and track what goes into and comes out of your in-house production or preparation to improve the accuracy of your variance and theoretical stock on hand reporting!
Converting a Recipe to a Production Stock Item
From the navigation bar, expand the Recipe Book heading and open the Recipes page.
Then, navigate to the desired recipe and choose the "Production Item" Recipe Type.
The Recipe record that was just altered will now display as a Stock Item under the Production Stock supplier on the Stock Maintenance page.
That is all that is needed! Now any Outlet that has this Recipe allocated to it will also have the Production Stock Item available at the outlet as well.
This Stock Item can now be used like a regular Stock Item in the system in places like Stocktake, Requisitions or in other Recipes!
Unlike regular Stock Items that have a price update when a new invoice is received, Production Stock Items will get their price updated when a new Production Record is filled out.
Tip: You can learn how to create Production Items in our Creating a Production Record article!
Adding Production Restrictions to your Production Item
After you have converted a Recipe to a Production Stock Item, you will notice a new Production tab on the Recipe's page.
Here you can alter a few things about the Production Stock Item and add some restrictions for when someone is filling out a Production Record.
1. Production Stock Item Details
In the first section you can alter some details about the actual Production Stock Item that is created in reference to this Recipe.
Here you can adjust the Packaging Type and Category of the Production Stock Item.
2. Yield Amount Restrictions
In this section you can see details about the Yield of the recipe.
Here you can also set some limitations for the user entering a production record in how much yield variation is allowed in the production of this item.

Note: The value used by ingredient stock items listed here will consider ingredient wastage values in the usage calculation. Eg: 100 grams with 10% wastage will show as approximately 111 grams. (111.111 grams)
Much like above, you can also set some limitations for the user entering a production record in how variation is allowed in the production of this item.

How Production Stock Items Update Costs
The cost that a Production Stock Item has in the system will be based on the the most recently produced cost from a saved Production Record.
However, if you need to force an update of any Production Stock Items to their latest cost it is possible to do this from the "Production Stock" Supplier on the Stock Maintenance page.
Simply you select any Production Stock Items that need their cost updated and then click the Force update to Production Stock costs button to forcibly update the costs to their current costing value.
