About Converting Stock to Recipes
To gain the full picture of sales and profits you need to link your sales items to Recipes. This seems pretty straight forward when it comes to menu items, but what about beverages or items that are ready for sale? These items also need to be linked to your sales items. To do this, you can easily convert your stock items to Recipes in bulk and then link them to your sales as normal.
How to Convert Stock to a Recipe
From the navigation bar, expand the Stock heading and open the Stock Maintenance page:
Select a Supplier from the dropdown menu:
Change the search type to By stock category, select a category to begin with and then hit Search:
Select all of the stock items in this category and from the More menu, select Save selected Stock Items as Recipes.
Now click Add folder and name the folder after your selected category. Once complete, click Select:
If you have multiple categories then you can now repeat these steps for each of your categories.
Once you have finished creating Recipe folders for each of your categories, it's time to add a selling price and adjust the portions for your Recipes.
From the navigation bar, expand the Recipe heading and open the Recipes page:
Add a selling price by navigating to the Costing tab and then enter your selling price into the Menu Selling Price($) field:
If you sell by the bottle and by the glass, then simply create a new Recipe for the glass by selecting and copying the bottle Recipe:
Rename the copied Recipe to reflect the sold by volume and adjust the Portion(Unit) to also reflect the glass volume:
Finally, add a Menu Selling Price($) and update the Portion Size to reflect the glass volume:
Now that you have completed these steps, you can now link these Recipes to your POS items, allowing you to generate comprehensive profit and costing reports!
